Talley Landscape Architects (TLA) created the design for a complete new play experience at Shady Lane Park. One full-sized football field will be in the North side of the park with a future expansion to a second field. One full-size soccer field with adult and youth goals will be located on the south end of the park, there will be a future expansion of two additional soccer fields. ![]() ![]() It serves not only as a prime play area, but can also keep kids occupied while family members practice and play games in the sport fields. A new playground area will also be located near the front of the park. Bike racks will be located near this building in anticipation of residents from the surrounding neighborhoods riding their bikes to the park. The plan also includes additional picnic spaces in a tree-shaded area adjacent to the softball complex.Ī restroom/concession building will be located at the entrance of the park, near the softball fields. A large pavilion shelter will be in the middle of the complex and will shade four picnic tables. The complex will be completed with another softball field to be added in the future the 4th quadrant provides a wooded picnic area with 5 accessible tables for players and general park users. The fields will have new fences, backstops and dugouts all of them will be accessible to people with disabilities. Students have access to faculty members committed to all areas of practice - from industrial design to urban design - and a city with one of the largest concentrations of cultural, educational, professional, and industrial resources.The center of the park will feature a softball field complex including two softball fields to be built in Phase 1. The Design/Build program provides students with opportunities to see their ideas evolve from initial conception to completed construction through hands-on experience. A comprehensive in-house Architecture and Art Library, extensive Materials Research Collaborative (MRC), and computing resources are available to all graduate students at the College. Design Exploration Lab and the future Construction Robotics and Digital Fabrication Technology (CRAFT) Lab. The College offers a range of facilities, including an array of traditional and advanced digital fabrication equipment in the award-winning Burdette Keeland, Jr. Lecture discussion groups and seminar classes have similar student-to-instructor ratios. Studio sections typically have eight to ten students per faculty member. The program is small in size and personal in its approach to architecture and design education, with an average enrollment of 60 to 70 students. Our design-centered program consists of studios, seminars, and lectures consistently focused on the process of creating, where ideas find form in the field of architecture and design.
